Rewind to the pandemic: after years of working three jobs while studying for an Open University degree, all with the unwavering aim to buy his own house, Joel’s break finally came with a great job.
He was able to buy his dream house, a sanctuary for his family. As a novice DIYer, Joel had many projects to undertake to make it the perfect home, but he couldn’t afford to pay tradespeople to do the work for him.
However, he often felt underconfident and needed support to ensure his work was safe and secure. The internet was a minefield of conflicting advice, and he just wanted to speak to a professional.
Despite his passion, he faced multiple DIY failures, costing time, money, and even resulting in leaking roofs.
This experience sparked the idea for DIYpal: a platform that connects consumers directly with professional tradespeople through video calls, offering tailored guidance.
This idea was born from a genuine wish to help others navigate the overwhelming world of DIY, creating a community where expertise is readily accessible, saving people time, money, and stress.
